Every day starts with connection.

Before the adventures begin, there's time to connect. A favourite story, a cuddle, a conversation or simply sitting alongside a trusted kaiako helps children make the transition from home. From there, the day unfolds naturally, with children joining play when they're ready.

Before morning tea, we gather together as a community.

Our morning hui is a chance to connect, share a story, and make a plan for the day ahead. We talk about the weather, the tides, the interests of the children and where today's adventures might take us.

Some of our tamariki will head to the beach, the bush or to explore our local community. For others, an exciting idea already unfolding at the centre becomes the focus. Whatever the plan, our kaiako thoughtfully guide the day while leaving plenty of room for curiosity and unexpected discoveries.

We're so lucky to have beaches, bush reserves and beautiful outdoor spaces right on our doorstep – and we definitely make the most of them!

Our children don't just hear about nature; they experience it. They climb over fallen trees, search for crabs in rock pools, collect shells along the shoreline and notice the small wonders that most adults walk straight past.

Some adventures happen close to home with our youngest children. Others see our older explorers jumping into the van or catching the bus to discover somewhere new. Wherever we go, every outing becomes another chapter in their childhood.

Adventure takes energy.

After lunch, the pace naturally slows. Some children drift off to sleep, while others choose quieter activities to recharge. Our kaiako take the time to settle each child with the comfort and reassurance they need, following their individual routines wherever possible. When the weather allows, you'll even find some of our children resting outdoors, lulled to sleep by fresh air and birdsong.

A well-rested child is ready for another afternoon of play, learning and adventure.

A shell collected at the beach might inspire an artwork. A question about a bird spotted on a walk could lead to books, conversations and new discoveries. Instead of toys with one purpose, our spaces are filled with loose parts, natural materials and open-ended resources that invite children to invent, create, solve problems and use their imagination in countless different ways.

One child's pile of sticks becomes a campsite, another's a bridge, and someone else's a dragon's cave.

As the afternoon winds down, we involve the children in a tidy up, get cleaned up for home and welcome families back at the end of the day.
